Three Benefits of Camping That May Surprise You

Camping in north carolina

Camping can be a great experience for families, as you are able to take a break from work, television, video games, and computers and spend quality time with each other. In fact, nearly 43 million Americans chose to go camping last year. Whether you are camping in New York or in another state, family camping comes with many great benefits.

1. Camping is no longer associated with the term Roughing It. In fact, camping can even be a comfortable, luxurious experience. Cabin camping is popular because cabins are usually equipped with beds and heat, and Rv camping can also provide the same benefits. Unless, of course, you and your family enjoy pitching a tent or sleeping under the stars, in which case you can still have a rewarding experience.

2. Camping is fun for kids. They may complain at first when you take away their TV and video games, but there is much for children to do at campgrounds. In addition to sitting around a fire, telling ghost stories, and roasting marshmallows, there are many activities that can be done in the woods. Convince them to go on a hike, bike ride, or fishing adventure. Even allowing them to have a separate tent can give them a sense of freedom, if they want it.

3. Camping in New York, and in other states, can be a lot cheaper than staying in a hotel. While you may not receive the same luxury as you would in a hotel, you have better opportunities to bond with your family and do activities out in the wilderness together. Cabin rentals are usually more expensive than tent camping, but the cost is not likely to empty your wallet. In some cases, camping may not cost you any more than it would cost you to stay at home, since campground rentals are generally very affordable.

Camping, as a whole, can be a great family experience, whether you enjoy tent camping, cabin camping, or RV camping. Not only is camping in New York affordable, it is also beneficial to step away from work and electronics once in awhile. In addition, getting a little fresh air can lead to less stress, an improved mood, and motivation to do more physical activities.

  1. I love camping, I go every October with my fiance and her family. We stay in cabins, which is nice because we are up in the mountains, and in October we have even seen snow before. It really is a nice getaway from reality.

  2. The idea of camping kind of freaks me out, to be honest. I just dont like the thought of being around bears, spiders, and skunks for an entire week. I prefer my comfy hotel room and warm bed, thank you!
